**POSITION**: Senior Purchasing Controller

**LOCATION**: Sunderland, Tyne and Wear

**REPORTING TO**: Purchasing Manager
**CONTRACT TYPE**:Permanent
**ANNUAL GROSS SALARY**: £44,000-£47,000 DOE
**PURPOSE OF THE ROLE**
- To lead and deliver on purchasing cost reduction initiatives of assigned European commodities with keen focus on localisation studies.
- To lead and deliver on complex resource activity (Localisation) from initial RFQ phase to implementation.
- To develop and implement European purchasing strategies and agreements that add the greatest value to the assigned commodities and business unit.
- To be responsible for all purchasing activities associated with the assigned commodities in Europe.
**MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES**:
- Responsible for strategic sourcing of assigned commodities for the European region.
- Develop and implement robust commodity strategies and supplier cost reduction initiatives to deliver business objectives.
- Capture New Programme Launch, Engineering and Operational requirements, and commercially communicate to the supply base.
- Negotiate best terms (price, payment terms, lead time, Ts & Cs, etc.) with supply base.
- Understands price analysis and can interrogate the Suppliers price to determine if fair and equitable.
- Maintains current and accurate purchase order data in the Enterprise Resource Planning (”ERP”) in accordance with procurement processes and procedures.
- Resolves discrepancies between supplier performance and purchase order requirements.
- Manage risk proactively within the supply chain by incorporating the use of Vendor Rating System
(“VRS”), Dunn & Bradstreet (“DnB”) reports, Quarterly Performance Reviews (“QPRs”) with plant
- quality and -logistics, and regular reviews with high-risk suppliers.
- Lead and coordinate Quality Cost Delivery Development Management (“QCDDM”) assessments for potential new suppliers.
**REQUIREMENTS**
**EDUCATION (SCHOOL/SPECIALISATION)**:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering or related field.
**LANGUAGES**:
- English fluent, additional language is advantageous.
**EXPERIENCES**:
- Experience in the Automotive Industry.
- Ideally experience in a responsible position within purchasing or significant experience in a relevant function.
- A proven thorough working knowledge of both business and financial matters.
- Project Management
**OTHER INFORMATION & SPECIFIC TECHNICAL SKILLS**:
- An understanding of the nature of supply market structures.
- Awareness of the nature of the business / corporate strategy and a greater understanding of the appropriateness of different purchasing strategies.
- Knowledge of commercial and contract law.
- Knowledge of 5S and supplier best practice (Supplier Audit Experience)
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills, effective in a cross-regional and cross
- functional environment
- Good planning and analytical skills
- Strong Influencing and Negotiation skills
- High willingness to make/drive decisions
- Ability to adjust and adapt to changing situations, problems and tasks quickly.
- Self-sufficient in MS Office and other related IT packages
- Intercultural mind-set
