**Counselling Tutor**
Permanent, Part Time
Up to £27,338 per annum (full time equivalent) - pay award pending
Location: Harlow
Working Style: Anywhere worker
**Please note that this is a part-time sessional role.**
**The Role**:
A counselling tutor is required to deliver unaccredited courses at introduction level and accredited Level 2 and Level 3 courses with CPCAB awarding body, in classroom based delivery and live online using Microsoft Teams.
This is a part time position, working flexibly depending on curriculum needs, including some evenings, teaching approximately 2 classes a week, of 2 - 2.5 hours’ duration. Marking and preparation is also required to be carried out in addition to class time.
The Counselling Tutor will be required to design, plan, deliver and evaluate high quality learning opportunities and experiences for learners in response to their identified needs.
**Please Note**: The post is part time, generally term time, hours vary according to curriculum needs and will be discussed further at interview.

**Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities**:
- Motivate and inspire learners to promote achievement and develop their skills to enable progression
- Plan and deliver effective learning programmes for diverse groups or individuals in a safe and inclusive environment, following ACL safeguarding procedures
- Promote the benefits of technology and support learners in its use
- Address the mathematics and English needs of learners and work creatively to overcome individual barriers to learning
- Enable learners to share responsibility for their own learning and assessment, setting goals that stretch and challenge
- Maintain and update your teaching / training expertise, vocational competence, and digital skills
- Contribute to organisational development and quality improvement through collaboration with others
- Initially assess learners’ starting points and monitor their progress, set challenging tasks and objectives, and build on and extend learning for all learners.
- Support learners to develop personal, social and employability skills for them to progress into further learning or jobs that meet local and national needs.
**Knowledge, skills and experience**:
- PTLS/DTLLS/PGCE - minimum Level 4 adult teaching qualification or be working towards this
- Subject specialism Counselling qualification: minimum 420 hours therapeutic counselling qualification at Level 4
- Member of professional association for counselling e.g., BACP
- Experience of teaching and learning in the Adult Education sector
- Experience of supporting individuals to achieve accreditation in portfolio based assessment and have a good knowledge of RARPA processes.
- Have a good knowledge of RARPA processes for unaccredited learning
- Excellent communication skills, working as a team and working on own initiative
