Dragon School have an exciting opportunity for a **Grounds Operative **to join their team.

**Grounds Operative** - The Role:
To be part of a team providing a full range of Grounds services to the Dragon School. To maintain the grounds and gardens at both the Prep and Pre-Prep site including certain residential properties.
**Grounds Operative** - Key Responsibilities:
- Assisting with the preparation and maintenance of sports and amenity surfaces including,
strimming, and line marking
- Lawn edging, maintaining shrub boarders, maintaining rose and flower beds and planters,
forking, mulching, watering, raking, weeding, pruning, bed preparation, planting
- Leaf blowing/sweeping/clearing
- Hedge cutting
- Salt spreading/Snow clearing
- Removing rubbish from grounds area, helping to keep the grounds compound a tidy and safe
environment
- Carrying out general maintenance duties as required in relation to the upkeep of the grounds
structure such as pavilions, scoreboards, fences and garden benches
- Being familiar with the School sporting calendar and program
- Being fully knowledgeable of the Health and Safety regulations pertaining to not only the
grounds activities and plant machinery, but also the general School environment
- Displaying at all times a thorough understanding of legislation relating to chemicals and
dangerous substances
- Promoting safe working practices
- As required by the Estates Bursar, assisting in the performance of other “whole team” duties
occasionally undertaken by all members of the Estates team
**Grounds Operative** - You:
**Essential**
- Full driving license
- (NCQ/IOG etc) in ground’s maintenance and sports turf management
- Safe Use of Pesticides
- Knapsack Sprayer
- PA1/PA6
- Formal Manual Handling
- Formal training in chainsaw use
- General Health and Safety awareness
- Knowledge and proficient use of grounds and gardening machinery
- At least 3 years practitioner experience in a ground’s maintenance environment
- Able to work unsupervised
- Excellent team worker
- Patience and an eye for details
- Team player
- Self-motivated Reliable, trustworthy and enthusiastic
- Willingness to undertake a wide variety of tasks
- Understand and Demonstrate willingness to promote positively equal opportunities outlined
in school policies
- Ability to work outside in all weather conditions
- Ability to lift heavy goods
- Ability to work weekends as and when required
**Desirable**
- Driving license with D1
- Previous experience of working in a Prep School
**Grounds Operative** - Benefits:

Eligible permanent employees are automatically enrolled into the School’s death in
service scheme. The benefit of this scheme is 3 x annual salary.
