The post holder is primarily responsible for reviewing emergency telephone calls prioritised through AMPDS (Advanced Medical Priority Dispatch System) in line with the (IAED) International Academy of Emergency Medical dispatch scoring standards.

Responsible for collating data to be analysed for production of AMPDS quality assurance standard reports in order to establish areas of focus for training.

Responsible for quality assurance of all qualified IAED control staff by supporting them to practice safely and effectively and meet the standards required for the Trust accreditation status and the IAED so ensuring high standards of professionalism are maintained at all times.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to play a key role in the AMPDS (Advanced Medical Priority Dispatch System)Audit Team at East Midlands Ambulance Service based at our Nottingham or Lincoln Emergency Operations Centre.

The AMPDS Auditor is primarily responsible for supporting the Emergency Operations Centre in the delivery of a high quality service. By auditing calls retrospectively following the performance standards as set by the International Academy of Emergency Dispatch (IAED) the Auditor will provide strength based feedback and future forward feedback to aid the continued professional development of colleagues. You will need to be EMD certified and need to evidence 6 months proven higher level compliance and also a proactive approach to your Continuing Dispatch Education (CDE)

As an AMPDS certified staff member, you will be required to support in EOC through answering 999 calls when required. The post holder will be based at either Lincoln or Nottingham, and need to be flexible with the ability to also work from home when required. You must adhere to Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) guidance which includes the wearing of face masks and sanitising hands and workstations at regular intervals.

The duties and responsibilities of the post will be undertaken in accordance with the policies, procedures and practices of the Trust, which may be amended from time to time.

Patient Safety is a key priority for the Trust. It is your responsibility to ensure that you are fully compliant with EMAS policies and procedures in respect of patient safety, for example Risk Management, Infection Prevention and Control, Safeguarding children and vulnerable adults.

- Identify training needs and development for control staff by providing feedback for their continuing professional practice and certification in the use of AMPDS.
- Provide training and assessments for staff with identified learning needs and those with less than 12 months experience to reach the standards required.
- To extract data from the Redbox voice recorder to enable staff to review their performance.
- Support staff to undertake their responsibilities for Continuing Dispatch Education (CDE)
- Assist with the two year recertification and development process of Emergency Medical Dispatchers.
- Provide and receive complex information related to the AMPDS, protocols and quality assurance standards.
- As qualified ED-Q audit emergency calls and review any disputed calls reported as special case reviews or operational feedback requests in accordance with AMPDS compliance procedure
- Review random samples of emergency calls in accordance with AMPDS quality assurance standards and provides written and verbal feedback to individuals regarding their customer service and the use of the AMPDS using daily feedback reports.
- Uses the Pro-QA database, AQUA7 and Redbox equipment to review calls requiring accuracy, quality and understanding of confidentiality.
- Regularly utilise the control room computer system including inputting reviewed calls on to the AQUA7database to create individual, departmental and determinant drift weekly and monthly AMPDS compliance reports and documents. Applications include excel and word
- Investigates complaints for PALS and formals where the AMPDS has been used and handle patient/carer concerns in accordance with the Trust’s patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) and/or Complaints procedure.
- To ensure best practice developing opportunities to improve ways of working, influencing change within in EMAS.
- Comply with AMPDS protocols and Code of Ethics and the standards set forth for an accredited centre of excellence. Implements policies encourage and propose changes to working practices and procedures for own work area including the AMPDS.
