Teaching Assistant

The Headteacher and Proprietary Board of this successful school are looking to appoint a kind and caring Teaching Assistant who will have a significant impact on the learning of pupils with additional needs. The role will be mostly working with them on a 1:1 basis. As part of the role you will also support other students at the school on an ad-hoc basis.
**Responsibilities**:
- To work 1:1 during periods throughout the day to deliver interventions relevant and bespoke for our students.
- To support the curriculum for both key stage 3 and key stage 4.
- To support with the delivery of the extra curricular programme..
- To support with developing offsite activities, inline with personal development and extra curricular programme.
- To ensure that resources are available to staff when required.
- To raise attainment for all young people.
- To consistently plan, prepare and deliver high quality and engaging interventions for all students.
- Assist teachers with creating lesson plans and learning materials to allow students to access the curriculum.
- Work with other children with a range of SEMH challenges to deliver education or improve their skills.
- Support children’s learning needs, boost their confidence, and encourage them to participate in the classroom.
- Organise and lead activities to improve class members’ social skills and communication abilities.
- Help teaching staff with administrative tasks.
**SAFEGUARDING**
- Work in line with statutory safeguarding guidance (e.g. Keeping Children Safe in Education, Prevent) and our safeguarding and child protection policies.
- Work with the designated safeguarding lead (DSL) to promote the best interests of pupils, including sharing concerns where necessary.
- Promote the safeguarding of all pupils in the school.
**Requirements**:
- Solid experience of having worked previously assisting children in a classroom setting.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including written and verbal communication skills.
- The ability to work collaboratively with class teachers and as part of the wider school team.
- Familiarity with ELKLAN would be an added advantage.
- Experience working with children with SEMH difficulties or an interest in developing skills to work with SEMH pupils.
- Have a passion for teaching and supporting children.

- A committed Teaching Assistant and work in line with the school behaviour policy.
- Able to modify challenging behaviour in a firm but supportive manner.
- Child centred.
- Flexible with a good sense of humour.
