Head of Digital Design

As the Head of Design (or Design Chapter Area Lead as we refer to the role internally), you’ll lead and oversee the design and delivery of our digital experiences for our customers. We’re pushing for innovation, so you’ll also be responsible for developing new digital propositions, making our customer journeys as seamless as possible. User experience is critical to how our customers feel about our brands, and we want them to see us as the easiest and most convenient insurer to deal with.

You’ll lead, manage, and motivate a team of excellent User Experience (UX), Copywriters, Animators, and Content Creator specialists. Within our agile model you'll need to continually re-balance to reflect the changing priorities and demands to ensure we're delivering the best possible value from our brands to our customers.

To do this, it’s a must that you promote an environment and culture of continuous improvement, experimentation, innovation and fun

Reporting into our Group Managing Director of Marketing and Digital, this role will be part of our DLG Senior Leadership Team.

**What you’ll be doing**:

- Use external benchmarking, experience, and insight to drive change. We want to learn how we could do things better and sometimes, that means doing things differently
- Lead the Design function to deliver seamless and innovative digital customer experiences
- Establish, embed and continually improve standards, tools and frameworks across the team.
- Create and develop competence across all aspects of the Design craft - building the right capabilities and matching the right talent to the right roles and value-creation opportunities.
- Work with Tribe Leads to deliver the “what” that is prioritised using the “how” of the Chapter.
- Create an environment of empowerment that enables others to step up.
- You’ll be the design and customer experience thought leader across all DLG products, services and brands.
- Own a complete picture of distribution and demand for competences in Tribes and ensure optimum staffing and rotation within the organisation.
- Co-ordinate in the assessment of all chapter members, ensuring this is done fairly and consistently with feedback and input given from several sources.
- Being an advocate of the “DLG Agile Way”, you will collaborate with all Tribe and CoE leads to identify/implement opportunities for innovation across Tribes.
- Advises on leading edge creative and innovative solutions to input into DLG / Tribe Strategy using extensive industry knowledge and continuous research.

**What you’ll need**
- Experience of building high performance creative teams, managing and developing people - including performance management and coaching.
- Familiarity of the latest creative tools relevant to the crafts within the Design Chapter
- Experience of setting brand and creative principles and standards, as well as creating a framework to help people work to these standards.- Experience of engaging with, influencing and directing external agencies.**Ways of Working**
