Mount Farm Surgery is a dynamic, forward-thinking GP practice in Moreton Hall, Bury St Edmunds. Focused on delivering the best possible patient service we are seeking an enthusiastic, new Health Care Assistant who has excellent communication skills, with a patient-focussed attitude. Joining a team of 6 others, as part of a wider team, a helpful and friendly manner is essential, with the ability to work well with others.

The role is for 25.5 hours per week.
Monday: 9:00am-6:30pm (1 hour unpaid lunch break)
Wednesday: 9:00am-6:30pm (1 hour unpaid lunch break)
Friday: 9:00am-6:30pm (1 hour unpaid lunch break)

Salary, according to experience.

**JOB SUMMARY**:
To assist with the provision of nursing services to patients attending the practice and assist the Nurses and GP’s in the provision of general medical services.

**MAIN DUTIES**:
1. **Venepuncture**
Obtaining blood samples ensuring safe handling of all specimens in accordance with local policies

2. **Observations**
Recording height, weight and blood pressure.

3. **Perform and record ECG tests**
In emergencies and at GP’s request. Including 24 hour ECG’s.

4. **Preparing for and assisting with minor operations**
Including coil fitting clinics.

5. **Health screening**
Including new patient checks, NHS health checks and learning disability checks.

6. **Wound care/Dressings/Removal of Sutures**
Following training - assessing, dressing and reviewing wounds in accordance with local guidelines.

7. **Ear washouts**
Following training - perform EWO procedure.

8. **Chaperone**
Chaperone duties when required.

9. **Communication**
Communicate effectively with other team members, patients and carers.

+ Any other delegated duties appropriate to the post.

**Job Types**: Part-time, Permanent
Part-time hours: 25.5 per week
