Here at National Highways, we currently have an exciting opportunity for a Project Manager to join our team in either our Exeter or Bristol office. Within this role, you will plan and manage the delivery of projects, managing the performance of an integratedproject team, external contractors and/or consultants and ensuring adherence to effective governance, quality assurance, health and safety, technical and specialist standards across the supply chain and National Highways, to ensure successful delivery of agreedproject outcomes.
What you’ll be leading on
Overseeing the development of detailed design and delivery of capital investment schemes, with a typical value of up to, and occasionally in excess of, £10million, within given parameters for quality, cost and time ensuring that they meet intended outcomes,customer service levels, quality and health and safety.
Monitoring day-to-day project activities including contract compliance, risk management, Health and Safety, financial management and reporting, document control, assurance and governance to ensure adherence to National Highways standards.
Commissioning and managing the performance of delivery partners and expert consultancy support as appropriate, ensuring that project objectives and requirements are clearly understood and clear expectations for health and safety management, time and cost areset. Support compliance with relevant health and safety and CDM Regulations ensuring design and construction partners fulfil their duties on schemes.
Developing and establishing project plans, using an appropriate project management methodology, working with colleagues to ensure that schedules and project controls are effectively developed.
Establishing and maintaining professional relationships with key stakeholders and supply chain, ensuring regular checkpoints take place to build trust, update on progress and address any concerns.
Establishing and delivering scheme specific communication plans, proactively managing customers’ perception of schemes in scope, to maintain and improve customer satisfaction. Respond to correspondence and other scheme related matters when required.
Managing the deployment of project resources including finance, staff and third parties; proactively managing project costs, providing forecasts and presenting variances with narrative at appropriate review points.
Identifying and evaluating efficiencies, risks, issues, dependencies and constraints associated with the project, escalating where appropriate and develop, agree and implement solutions to overcome these
To be Successful
Evidence of managing teams to successful development of complex, medium risk projects or high profile projects
Evidence of managing complex relationships with multiple stakeholders and evidence of skills to influence relationships for positive outcomes
Demonstrable experience of taking projects through governance processes and engaging with organisational senior leadership to achieve approvals.
Demonstrable experience of managing the development of project plans and detailed stage plans in conjunction with delivery partners.
Evidence of commercial skills with proven ability to negotiate and manage contracts to deliver outcomes and drive value for money
Proven programme or project management experience. A recognised project management qualification is desirable.
