The Company is part of a Global group that supply HGV 1 Drivers who must become Sponsored Reservists in the British Army.
Vacancies now exist in the South West of England. The positions are permanent.
**The Company and the Role**:
The Company is global group which provides heavy equipment transportation to the British Army in peacetime and during operations.
The role is that of an HGV 1 Driver who must become a Sponsored Reservist.
Vacancies now exist in the South West of England. The positions are permanent.
The primary purpose of the role is to operate and drive Oshkosh HET’s and civilian vehicles to a high level of professionalism, adhering to all relevant legislation, regulations and company policies and procedures. In addition, an integral part of the roleis to be a Sponsored Reservist.
Provide military capability on operations as well as delivering armour during peacetime and at other times you will work as a contracted Driver to our client.
Work will be divided between driving our client's new fleet of specialist military vehicles and civilian HGV vehicles based in your home region and you will be assigned to a Driving Agency in your area which will be a home-based role.
All applicants will have to undergo a comprehensive medical and fitness / strength tests. Therefore, interested applicants should be of good health and physically fit.
**Key Features of the Role**:
Operating and driving Oshkosh HET’s and civilian vehicles to a high level of professionalism, adhering to all relevant legislation, regulations and company policies and procedures.
Become and remain a Sponsored Reservist whilst in the role.
Providing military capability on operations as well as delivering armour during peacetime.
General driving duties as well as adhering to road traffic and vehicle laws and regulations both in the UK and whilst overseas.
Tours can be in Germany and Estonia for which uplifts are paid and exercises often take place in Oman.
**Knowledge and Skills Required**:
Accomplished professional driver qualified C+E (HGV 1), with experience of driving articulated vehicles and have not more than 6 penalty points on your licence.
Previous service in the Army, Royal Air Force or Navy (Reserves or Regular) is advantageous.
Hold a British passport be eligible to join the Reserves and be willing to become and remain a Sponsored Reservist (SR) and uphold the commitments as a Sponsored Reservist.
**What’s on Offer**:
Basic salary plus uplifts will be in the region £32,057 pa. In addition, there is a Sponsored Reservist bounty payable and uplifts and allowances depending upon deployment to theatre. On target earnings can be up to
£41,000pa depending upon length of service and the time spent on deployment.
Probation period pay will be £30.432 until you obtain your attestation as a Sponsored Reservist.
28 days’ holiday including bank and public holidays increasing to 33 days over 5 years, Stakeholder pension, Life assurance etc.
There are promotional prospects to Senior Driver level and also the opportunity to be trained in additional skills e.g Fire - Fighting for which additional pay supplements are given.
