Zachary Daniels are pleased to be working with a National Trade Merchant. We are looking for a Category Manager with experience in LBM, looking to take a senior position within the commercial team
- Managing and accountable for designated product categories and vendor; developing and implementing strategies to maximise sales, margin and stock turn aligned to the Company goals
- Defining and implementing strategic direction of the brands/categories and delivery plans to meet targets agreed with the Trading Director
- Building and reviewing the customer proposition; product-, range
- and price architecture, to develop:

- Product, range plans
- Own brand development plans
- Pricing & promotional plans
- Differentiation & innovation; bring new and/or exclusive products
- Establish the best routes to market and develop the appropriate channel proposition
- Evaluating market drivers, industry changes, new product developments and growth
- opportunities
- Managing and reviewing the vendor base, building relationships with new and
- existing suppliers; negotiating terms trading packages, in close collaboration with and
- supported by other Category Managers and the Head of Category & Buying
- Defining sales prices across the range and actively monitoring competitor prices and
- Developing and implementing exit plans for 'tail' of products or promotions working

**Responsibilities**
- Sales development and Merchandising
- Maximising opportunities to grow sales, maximise margin and improve stock turn in line with Company goals and customer demand by:

- Understanding customer needs by being close to commercial operations and getting regular feedback through formal forums and informal branch visits and interaction with the Area Development Managers
- Working closely with branches and Area Development Managers to drive category growth achieving successful launch or re-launch of product categories
- Working closely with Marketing and Visual Merchandising on the promotional plan and develop in-branch presentations and lay outs
- Dealing directly with customers when the need arises, and direct contact is likely to provide the best result (spray/sanding)
- Supported by and liaising with other Head Office depts Insight

**Experience**(ideal, not essential)
- Identifies and analyses problems and seeks solutions whilst constantly prioritising
- Demonstrates how to use initiative to resolve issues, leading by example
- Produces new ideas, approaches or insights
- Able to use own initiative and to take decisions within agreed limits. Will ask for help when needed
- Uses persuasion and influence to gain clear agreement and commitment from others
