In this role, you will be responsible for the internal training and assessment of qualified LGV Drivers and Van Drivers. You will ensure all new LGV Drivers and current LGV Drivers are trained in all relevant Safe Systems of Work, specifically relating to loading and unloading of product, crane operations, Driving Safely and Lorry Operations.

Your key responsibilities will include:

- Deliver vehicle familiarisation training to Drivers as and when required.
- Assess new drivers before probationary sign off.
- Deliver corrective refresher training as and when required.
- Ensure Driver processes are understood and being followed, delivering relevant training (handheld’s - Tacho’s etc) where needed.
- Highlight any concerns or issues with recommendations after each driver assessment (every driver to have one driver review day each year).
- Assist with transport training and coaching of line managers/yard supervisors.

Having excellent driving skills and a proven track record is essential as is your ability to demonstrate excellent listening and problem-solving skills. Having a full LGV Driving licence and excellent knowledge of Tacho rules and regulations is also a must.

You will be required to travel extensively throughout the Southwest, and you must be available to attend Departmental meetings in our Yeovil Support Centre. A full car license is therefore essential. You may also be required to stay away overnight on an ad hoc basis.
