**Technical Writer**

**Encocam** are recruiting for a **Technical Writer** to work with our Engineers to produce technical data packs and user manuals at our production site in **Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire.**

Encocam are successfully established as one of the world leaders in the automotive safety industry. We are a prominent manufacturer of crash test barriers and having established contacts with the leading car manufacturers, we moved on to produce crash test dummies (known professionally as anthropomorphic test devices - ATDs). Our technical writers are responsible for providing descriptive text, photographs, charts and graphs that show our products quality and performance.

The second aspect to this role involves working with the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) to understand standards, regulations and audits which our products need to comply with, so this information can be further communicated on all technical documentation to satisfy customers testing requirements.

**Key tasks and responsibilities **of the role are:

- Provide technical ‘data packs’ for all commercially available parts, assemblies and services.
- Provide text and information required for the production of user manuals. The needs of the end user should be understood and met.
- Working with sales and marketing, assess what work is required to prioritise and plan its effective execution.
- Display a broad and extensive knowledge of the regulations and standards that are relevant to the services that we are providing.
- Liaise with Sales & Marketing to be apprised of any exhibitions/shows that the Company attends; pay particular attention to provide pertinent information
- Be a technical point of contact for customer complaints, assess the situation, gather information and report findings to sales.
- Translate complex technical matters into easily understandable language.
- Working with the Quality department, you will coordinate and manage any technical assessments and audits required by ISO/ UKAS.
- Create, review or amend Work Instructions (WIs) that may be used within the Engineering Department.
- Research the use of video as a basis for WIs.

You will need to have previous experience as a Technical Author writing engineering documentation. You must have dedication and perseverance along with a commitment to accuracy and detail to make sure all technical documents are correct and fit for purpose. A suitable engineering qualification would also be desirable.
