Payroll Officer

An education provider near Shipley is looking for a part-time Payroll Officer to join their team on a temporary basis. Working 20 to 30 hours per week, on an hourly rate of up to £11.85, depending on experience, this role is initially for 8 weeks but could be extended further for up to 6 months.

The Payroll Officer will play a key part in the Finance Team and the payroll processes. This will include looking after all payrolls for hourly and salaried staff, as well as processing time sheets, overtime and expenses for the business.

Key responsibilities for the Payroll Officer will include:

- Completing end to end monthly payroll processes for the business, for up to 350 people
- Ensuring that payroll activities meet legislative and statutory requirements
- Ensuring that financial activities are compliant with auto-enrolment and re-enrolment requirements
- Maintaining sickness records for payroll and calculating for both sick pay and statutory sick pay
- Supporting the HR Manager in issuing contracts of employment and supporting documentation for all new staff
- Supporting the HR Manager and the line managers with the probationary process for new staff
- Other ad hoc responsibilities within the wider team

To be successful in this Payroll Officer opportunity, you will ideally have:

- Previous experience working in a payroll position or where payroll has been part of your role
- In-depth understanding of payroll legislation, processing, auto-enrolment regulations and statutory requirements
- Experience using various accountancy software packages, such as Sage, Xero, Quickbooks, and MS Excel
