ELFT champions the important contribution people with lived experience make to those using our services. We currently have opportunities to join our Newham Community Mental Health teams as a Peer support worker. To be a Peer support worker, it is ESSENTIAL to have lived experience of using mental health services as you will be drawing on your experience to support peers. In addition, you must have completedELFT Accredited Peer Support Worker trainingorhave Peer Support Worker experience.

Our Peer support worker roles are offered on a part time basis, and can range from 10 hours per week to 37.5 hours per week. We normally aim to support with a work pattern that suits both your needs, and the service. You will join an existing group of Peer support workers and have access to supervision, weekly meetings, reflective practice and support from your colleagues.

Applicants without lived experience, will not be considered for these roles.
- To act as a role model and mentor for Recovery using own experience to inspire hope in others; demonstrating coping skills, sharing life experiences and lessons learned where appropriate.
- To provide formalised peer support and practical assistance to service users to identify their strengths, personal interests and goals.
- To support service users to access and participate in activities.
- To positively support service users living within their community through developing and maintain extensive knowledge and links with local areas.
- To support safety effectively in line with policies and procedures.
- To participate in the promotion of the Peer Support Worker role.
