Experienced buyer required for long term, ongoing contract work within an engineering company based in Chippenham, who build, test and distribute high quality rail automation devices
- £18 per hour PAYE
- 37 hours per week, Monday to Thursday - 0730 - 1530, Friday 0730 - 1500
- Free parking on site or walking distance from Chippenham train station

About the job
- Collaborate with production, engineering and R&D to ensure components are procured to specification and in line with production schedule
- Supplier selection and negotiation to ensure on time supply of components for the manufacturing area
- Active and significant participation in multi-disciplined teams for the introduction of new products into manufacturing
- The successful development and implementation of lean supply techniques throughout the supply chain
- Ability to facilitate/conduct supplier audits
- Rationalise the supply base and manage supplier relationships to ensure code of conduct and contract compliance and achieve strengthened purchasing relationships with suppliers
- 2 years’ experience in a procurement role, preferably for a high mix low volume manufacturing business.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Ability to negotiate and influence to build supplier partnerships
- Fluent communications skills, both verbal and written, along with excellent interpersonal skills.
- Highly numerate and PC literate
- Expert user of an ERP system, (ideally SAP), and Microsoft excel.
