Java Developer

**JOB PURPOSE**

As part of the IT Team this position is predominantly to focus on the Java Development which supports our custom built warehousing and indirect systems. You will also be responsible for the provision of essential operational support to the business, while leading proactive system development activities in support of improving performance, satisfying customers and providing new products/services to customers internally and externally.

**SUMMARY OF MAIN TASKS**

**Development**

Support the business with the development of new and existing platforms, in order to provide outstanding reliability, functionality and operational performance to internal and external customers. This requires working with existing systems, while also exploring and developing new opportunities in keeping with business strategy.

**Support**

Provision of essential operational support to the business on a rolling call out pattern, ensuring reliability targets are achieved and maintained across all operating systems.

**Performance improvement**

Proactively review and identify opportunities for improvement across all existing systems and operational practices in pursuit of standards of excellence.

**Customer management**

Work with customers (internally & externally) to effectively manage expectations, ensuring their needs are being satisfied. Attend project meetings as required and work with customers at their base operations.

**People**

Develop effective working relationships with key internal stakeholders at levels in the business to ensure constructive communication is maintained at all times.
- Work closely with customers to ensure expectations are managed and delivered
- Ensure frequent and effective communication channels are in place and maintained
- Actively ensure the IT service delivered is of a high standard
- Liaise with IT manager and team members with regards to time specific tasks.
- Provide constant feedback to the IT/General Manager of potential issues.
- Provide support where required to other team members to achieve deadlines
- Provide relevant information to internal customers in a timely manner
- Support management in achieving strategic objectives.
- Ensure company policies and procedures are adhered to and updated in accordance with business and customer requirements
- Ensure standard operation procedures are available and up to date
- Respond to operational reliability and system performance priorities in line with service level agreements
- Deliver projects in line with quality, cost and delivery objectives
- React to evolving work priorities and targets, in line with the needs of the business
- Achievement of daily workload in accurate and timely manner.
- Effective budget management in agreed financial targets
- Ensure compliance with the company Purchase Order process.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

Schedule:

- 8 hour shift
- Monday to Friday

**Education**:

- Bachelor's (preferred)

**Experience**:

- Java Developer: 2 years (preferred)
