As a youth worker at Cheviot Youth, you will work directly with young people aged 8 to 25 years old. You will help them to explore and understand their ideas, values and beliefs, building their confidence and life skills so that they can make a successful transition to adulthood.
You will do this primarily in youth drop-in sessions at our Kelso youth hub, and at our space where we provide youth work in Jedburgh Grammar. You will work collaboratively with your fellow youth workers and volunteers, and report directly to the Youth work manager.
Youth work relies on voluntary engagement with young people, so you'll need to build relationships based on trust in order to support and empower them.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES

- attend regular training and development opportunities to maintain an up-to-date knowledge of safeguarding, health and safety, and local policy developments
- undertake administrative tasks, maintain effective recording systems and respond to queries
- work with parents and community groups to win support for improved provision and act as an advocate for young people's interests
- **ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS**_
- To observe all Health & Safety requirements
