Job Introduction
The BBC News website is one of the world’s largest and most popular news sites. We are looking for a Senior Journalist to work for our digital team over the crucial weekend period to help ensure our coverage on the website and app is as impactful on a Saturday and Sunday as it is on a weekday

The duties of the role could vary from editing and writing top news stories and live digital coverage, to managing a team of writers, to seeing through a high-impact piece of journalism from one of our award-winning correspondents. The role will involve working on both UK and international stories, and in collaboration with other BBC teams in the UK and around the world.

**Note: This is a shift-based role, with shift days from Thursday to Sunday, and includes some night-working.**
- Excellent editorial judgement with experience handling breaking news on digital platforms and a proven track record of making the right decisions under intense pressure
- The ability to sift news material with speed and accuracy and devise and enact an editorial plan in collaboration with others
- Experience of managing a team of reporters on daily, fast-paced news coverage
- Knowledge of and a keen interest in using audience data, search data and social media to improve storytelling, reach new audiences and broaden coverage
- Enthusiasm for helping to deliver high-impact journalism specifically for weekend audiences, and creative thoughts and ideas for improving the weekend offer on the BBC News website and app
- Experience of using digital content management systems to publish and produce stories
- A track record of covering the UK and/or international news agenda and delivering insightful, high-quality journalism to audiences
