**How you'll make a difference**:
South Gloucestershire is the fastest growing region in the South West. We believe the public realm of highways and open spaces should make a positive difference to our lives and help to deliver homes, jobs and better opportunities for all.
In this role you will make a difference by contributing to protecting and enhancing our natural and historic sites and you will play a crucial role in keeping our streets and open spaces safe, accessible and enjoyable to use all day every day.
You will help showcase South Gloucestershire as a great place to live, work and play for residents, workers and visitors.
**What will you be doing?**
- It will be your responsibility to manage, investigate and respond to day to day enquiries received from the public regarding all Council assets. Such assets including open spaces, property, highways and closed churchyards.
- You will be working closely with Town and Parish Councils, community groups, MPs, Council Members and the general public.
- No two days will be the same. You will be out and about most of the day, every day, working mainly within your designated area to keep roads and footways, parks and open spaces, drainage systems and verges safe to use.
- Occasionally you may be asked to cover other Officer areas and work outside of normal office times.
**What we need from you**:
- It is essential you are a confident communicator that can influence and explain technical issues with others, sometimes in challenging circumstances.
- You must have good literacy and numeracy skills and be able to interpret complex data and information.
- You will be able to prioritise high volumes of work, work independently and also more widely as part of the team.
- A full driving licence is required and have the ability to work in all conditions and environments.
**How a career at South Gloucestershire Council is different**:
We know our team work best when they have balance in their lives and we offer genuine **flexibility** to help them achieve that **work/life balance.**
We value our staff as individuals, investing in their careers and we are recognised for the quality, breadth and depth of our **training and development** offer, which helps make the greatest long-term difference in work.
We trust our team to work in the way which allows them to make the biggest difference and we continue to** invest in technology **to help staff do their jobs to the best of their ability and** celebrate innovation.**
Our teams at South Gloucestershire Council are making a real difference to the lives of people who live, work and learn here.
- We're building and shaping communities which people are proud of.
- We're planning for the future; building and improving the roads, railways, schools, green spaces, and houses.
- We’re providing essential services across our communities to ensure they are safe and well maintained.
We've achieved a great deal, but we need talented and dedicated people to ensure we continue to make a difference.
**We’re making a difference, be part of it
