General hours of work are 40 hours per week Monday to Friday between 8.30am to 5pm.

**Why Highway Resource Solutions (HRS)**

Highway Resource Solutions (HRS) was established in 2011, following the death of a Road Worker in Lincolnshire, UK. This tragic incident, caused by an errant vehicle, was the catalyst for the development of an Incursion Warning System for road workers whichis now recognised as best practice by industry and Highways England. HRS specialise in the delivery of digital services and assets for sectors in temporary infrastructure, including roads, rail, utilities, and event management.

**About the role of Head of Product Engineering**

You will be responsible for the design and implementation of our product strategy, by liaising with senior business leaders to understand business goals and set development priorities. You will then need to coordinate these activities between your developmentteams and ensure that new products are features are prioritised accordingly.

You must be able to understand customer requirements for new products and communicate these effectively to your team members. You will also become the escalation point for support issues, which will require you to understand and clearly communicate the situationwith the appropriate engineer, so a resolution may be implemented. This will also include maintaining technical documentation, reviewing training materials and demonstrating new features to our stakeholders.

This position is primarily located from home. However, you will be asked to commute to our Head Office in Bottesford (once per week) for meeting and workshops when recommended by the UK Government and our new Technology Centre has completed construction.

**What good looks like for a Head of Product Engineering**:
We are looking for a people manager who is experienced in new product development, with knowledge of electronics, mechanics, software, websites and mobile apps.

You will be ‘hands-on’ and technically focussed, making sure our product improves from a business and technical perspective, always with the customer in mind.
- Highly experienced working in a similar role
- Be able to visualise a new product from a customer’s point of view
- Experience of managing product life cycles and technical documentation
- Experience in managing multiple engineering and development teams
- Understanding of both agile and waterfall development
- A natural problem-solver who uses a data-driven approach
- Someone who can identify and understand customer needs
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
