LNWH is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated band 6 nurse to join our Infectious Diseases Assessment Service on a fixed term contract for 1 year.
The successful applicants will require post registration experience ideally within infectious diseases or clinical experience in Infectious Diseases. However this is a great opportunity for individuals coming from an acute care background to join the team on a developmental programme.
We are looking for individuals who have excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational skills, and a genuine passion for delivering quality healthcare within the arena of Infectious Diseases.
To provide specialist clinical practice skills in the management, diagnosis and treatment of individuals with infectious and tropical diseases.
To identify patient care pathways and to work closely with the Clinical Nurse Specialist to ensure appropriate nursing support for patients with infectious diseases.
To provide specialist knowledge and to act as a resource for the generic nursing workforce.
To work both under supervision and autonomously and foster effective relationships with others across and within professional boundaries.
To deputise in the running of the department in the absence of the Lead Nurse.
Establish and maintain effective communication with all members of the MDT including consultants and outside agencies.
Ensure good communication verbally and via formal documentation and electronic sources with all members of the nursing and multidisciplinary team. This will include patients, relatives, external agencies such as immigration department, public health, social services, GPs, practice nurses, nursing homes, community nurse specialists.
Promote health education within the clinical area and be able to advise the patient, family and others in health promotion issues.
Be aware of drug usage and guidelines /NICE/ antibiotic programmes/ protocols.
Keep up to date with professional issues relevant to nursing practice within their area of clinical practice, management education and research
