**Job Purpose**
Due to recent project successes and a large order book going forward in the Specialist Services business unit, Cavendish Nuclear are looking for an enthusiastic, flexible and capable senior Human Factors consultant to build their Human Factors capability. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape Cavendish Nuclear’s Human Factors capability going forward in sectors that are critical to the national infrastructure and security, and do some great technical work too

As a senior consultant, you will provide technical oversight and leadership to members of the Human Factors capability as delegated by the capability lead. You will also provide technical oversight and leadership to project teams and provide support and input to concept, engineering and detailed design. You will conduct reviews of drawings, calculations, models and technical deliverables and conduct calculations and analyses in support of safety case and engineering activities. You will promote Cavendish Nuclear’s Human Factors capability to clients through face-to-face liaison, presentations and conference attendance. You will provide support to bids, business development while supporting and mentoring junior consultants and helping to raise awareness of Human Factors within the engineering and science communities within Cavendish Nuclear.

**What do I need to do the role?**
You will be a very experienced, proactive, self-motivating team player, able to motivate those around you, whilst also being able to work on your own, who is looking for a new challenge.

Essential:
You will require a 2:1 degree or higher qualification in Human Factors, Ergonomics or Applied Psychology and should be a chartered member of the CIEHF, IET or BPS. You will have a strong background in delivering Human Factors design and engineering solutions in safety critical or regulated industries, a broad technical experience of Human Factors methods, tools and techniques and experience of planning and delivering Human Factors Integration in accordance with DEF STAN 00-251 on complex projects. We are looking for someone with experience of managing and developing a technical team, both on projects and in a people management capacity who is experienced in bid writing and business development and has experience of delivering Human Factors as part of a multi-disciplinary engineering team. You should also be experienced in systems engineering techniques and requirements development. You must be willing to travel to client sites when required and you should have the ability to meet requirements for MoD Security Clearance.

Desirable:
We would also like you to have experience of liaising with the ONR, experience of Human error and human reliability assessment techniques and experience of nuclear safety case support.

**What projects might you work on?**

Cavendish Nuclear supports all aspects of critical infrastructure in the civil and defence nuclear industries, working at all design phases across nuclear new build, support to operations and decommissioning. The Human Factors capability is currently supporting engineering, design and organisational programmes at Devonport Royal Dockyard, Dounreay, Hinkley Point A and C, EDF and Urenco, as well as supporting internal innovation and technology projects. But that’s just today. We have had a number of recent bid successes with more on the horizon, all of which require resourcing, and there is always the opportunity to blaze your own trail.
