**What’s the role about?**
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Designer to join our Product Design Team within John Lewis & Partners. This role will focus on the Own Brand Furniture side of the Partnership, including cabinetry, free standing furniture and upholstery.
**Please note**:
- Travel with the team to research and to develop products in the UK, Europe and the Far East is necessary.
**What will you be doing?**
- Play a critical role in delivering product design that will form a coherent category assortment aligned to brand / sub brand guidelines and in service of our customers
- Align to the Own Brand assortment strategy with a strong focus on understanding our customer and their evolving needs and desires to ensure that we deliver appropriate and relevant products
- Work autonomously and set a clear direction for those within your project team, agreeing ambition and a process to achieve the outcome. Task management responsibilities can include projects, category collections, sub brands
- Recommend, prepare and present relevant and appropriate category trends through high quality research to the wider team
- Lead Partners within multi-disciplinary and matrix teams to achieve and deliver work, in line with business outcomes and with the voice of the customer at the heart of decision making
**What you'll have**:
- Computer aided design knowledge including Solidworks, Keyshot and Adobe creative suite
- Experience in stakeholder management, excellent communication and presentation skills
- A proven commercial focus
- A track record of credible creative achievements
- A strong understanding of the JL&P brand, their brand values and potential for product
**What else could you bring?**
- BA degree in Design (product, furniture or Industrial Design)
- Substantial experience within a product design studio
- Good external network across the design industry
