London, United Kingdom Albert Kennedy Trust Full time

**About Us**

akt is the UK’s national LGBTQ Youth Homelessness charity. We provide safe homes, mentoring, and support to ensure that no young person needs to choose between a safe home and being who they are. 24% of young people facing homelessness in the UK identify as LGBT (National Scoping of LGBT Youth Homelessness, akt, 2015) and 78% of LGBTQ+ young people cited an absence of family support (The LGBTQ+ Youth Homelessness Report, akt, 2021). The charity was founded in 1989 and operates service centres in London, Manchester and Newcastle and works online through a Digital Service to offer support to young people outside of our four office regions. Last year we supported nearly 1,200 young people through face to face and online casework.

**The Team**

The London team deliver akt’s core service offer across Greater London. In 2024-2025, 39% of referrals coming into akt were from young LGBTQ+ people based in London. With high cost of living and limited housing options, London is one of our bigger, busier teams consisting of 1 manager, 2 senior caseworkers and 3 caseworkers.

**Job Summary**

**Please note this is a temporary position with an expected end date of 07/08/26.**
- To carry out holistic assessments of the needs of young LGBTQ+ people who are homeless, vulnerably housed, or in a hostile environment, and to carry out short-term intervention where appropriate on their behalf.
