Job description

Bedford School launched a brand new Media Studies department in September 2023 to offer A-Level Media Studies to pupils in our Sixth Form. Media Studies is now a popular choice for Sixth Form pupils, with two teaching groups in Lower Sixth and Upper Sixth. We wish to appoint a Head of Media Studies for September 2025, who is enthusiastic and well qualified, to lead the development of the School’s Media Studies curriculum, teaching, resources and enrichment.

The role could be a full
- or part-time post. It is fair to say, however, that, given the structure of the school’s timetable, it may well be difficult for full days off to be accommodated; half days are more realistic.

Closing date: Friday 7 March

Interview date: Wednesday 12 March

The School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Applicants will be required to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). The School may carry out online searches on shortlisted applicants. The post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. The School is therefore permitted to ask job applicants to declare all convictions and cautions on a self-declaration form in advance of attending an interview (including those which are “spent” unless they are “protected” under the DBS filtering rules) in order to assess their suitability to work with children.
