Medical Journal Editor

**Responsibilities**:

- Leading on all aspects of medical journal production
- Interpreting, evaluating and verifying the content of submitted articles
- Editing biomedical/clinical manuscripts for publication, ensuring internal consistency and confirming that data are reported correctly and accurately
- Writing editorial content, news items and special features
- Managing the peer review process and assessing authors’ responses to edits and editorial comments
- Checking reference lists in documents, including verifying citation information
- Sourcing and preparing news stories for a regular e-Bulletin
- Collaborating with the wider scientific community to source articles for publication and keep up-to-date in the field

**Experience**:

- Educated in biomedical or clinical sciences
- A working knowledge of editorial activities within medical publishing
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Quickly able to assimilate and interpret scientific data, even in an unfamiliar field
- A meticulous eye for detail, strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong workload management and organisational skills - ability to manage multiple activities and prioritise effectively
- Ability to produce high quality work while working to deadlines
- Self-motivated and able to perform activities with mínimal oversight
- Ability to communicate with senior staff in the clinical/medical community

**Job Types**: Part-time, Freelance

**Salary**: £16.00-£20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 10 - 15 per week
