Job Description: Locum Specialist Registrar (NHS Trust)

**Job Title**: Locum Specialist Registrar

**Pay Scale**: Specialty Registrar Pay Scale (as per NHS guidelines)

**Job Purpose**:
**Key Responsibilities**:

- **Clinical Care**:

- Provide specialist care and management of patients in your specialty.
- Assess, plan, and deliver care plans for patients.
- Perform clinical assessments, diagnoses, and treatments with guidance from senior clinicians.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver coordinated care.
- Respond to emergencies and participate in on-call duties as required.
- Ensure all patient records are accurate and up to date.
- **Teaching & Training**:

- Supervise and support junior doctors and other healthcare professionals.
- Participate in the teaching and training programs for medical students and junior staff.
- **Research & Development**:

- Engage in clinical audits and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.
- Stay up to date with current clinical practices and new guidelines in your specialty.
- **Communication**:

- Provide clear and concise communication with patients and their families.
- Liaise with colleagues across different departments and levels to ensure continuity of care.
- Contribute to patient discharge summaries and referrals when needed.
- **Governance & Safety**:

- Adhere to NHS Trust guidelines and policies regarding patient safety, infection control, and data protection.
- Participate in mandatory training and regular appraisals.

**Qualifications & Experience**:

- **Essential**:

- **Medical Degree (MBBS or equivalent)** from a recognized institution.
- **Full GMC Registration** with a license to practice.
- Must have **completed core training (CST/CT2)** or equivalent.
- At least **3 years of postgraduate clinical experience** in a relevant specialty.
- Proficiency in written and spoken English.
- **Desirable**:

- Membership of the **Royal College of Physicians/Surgeons** or equivalent (MRCP, MRCS, etc.).
- Relevant experience within the NHS.
- Experience in conducting clinical audits or research.

**Additional Information**:

- A Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check will be required.
- The role involves rotating across different hospital sites within the Trust.
- On-call duties will be expected as part of the role.
- Locum contracts may vary in length from weeks to months depending on the specialty and departmental needs.

Contract length: 12 months

Pay: £58.98-£95.74 per hour

Expected hours: 50 per week
