Strategic Buyer

As a Strategic Buyer based within the procurement team, you will be responsible for ensuring that the Group Procurement Strategic Plan is executed with plans for their relevant supplier/category allocations, with the ultimate objective of adding business competitive advantage through cost reduction/risk reduction/supplier capability availability and delivery performance. You'll report directly to the Strategic Sourcing Manager and work within a closely-knit team of like-minded procurement professionals.

**What you'll be doing**
- Management and overall accountability for the performance and compliance of the supply chain, leading improvement actions with the help of sub-contract managers.
- Negotiating and executing robust supplier contractual frameworks and ongoing contract management.
- Development of strategic sourcing plans and strategies for allocated areas of spend.
- Provide cost-effective sourcing of parts supply to deliver lower acquisition cost of parts.
- Drafting and managing RFQ’s through to delivery.
- Tracking supplier on-time delivery performance and compliance.
- Providing bid support to the commercial team and analysis of customer new bids and business requirements.
- Create and implement spend analytics capability to support Strategic Sourcing Manager in their savings and benefits opportunity assessments demonstrated through a strong technical skillset particularly in Microsoft Excel.
- Experience in effective supplier management techniques, including commercial and qualitative performance, risk management, and supplier relationship management.
- Management of new procurement engagement requests and facilitation of key relationships with tactical buying teams.
- Support SSM with day-to-day procurement activity including RFP’s, evaluations, contracting and key reporting.

- Good commercial acumen, with ability to gather, analyse and interpret spend, volume and market data and understand the broader impacts aligned to the procurement plan.
- Ability to create and implement spend analytics capability to support Strategic Sourcing Manager in their savings and benefits opportunity assessments demonstrated through a strong technical skillset particularly in Microsoft Excel
- Experience in effective stakeholder and supplier management techniques, including commercial and qualitative performance, risk management, and supplier relationship management.
- Broad technical and commercial understanding of the aviation repairs industry is desirable
- Possesses excellent communication skills with the ability to influence at multiple levels
- Ability to work under pressure and meet multiple deadlines whilst delivering to a high standard
- Resilience in achieving ambitious targets under difficult circumstances capitalises on lessons learned and responds positively to setbacks
- Enjoys analysis of complex and sometimes incomplete information to create an easy to communicate solutions
- Preferably CIPS qualified, or willingness to learn
- Sets stretched goals for themselves and their suppliers, prepared to take measured risks to gain a competitive advantage for AJW
- Demonstrable experience in procurement activity either having worked as a buyer, procurement specialist or procurement analyst in a complex environment.Please note, that you may need to undergo a DBS background check if you are successful.
