**Transport Team Leader Overall Purpose**
We are looking for an experienced Transport Professional to join our experienced Team based at our Billingham, Teeside site on a full-time permanent basis. Reporting to the Regional Transport Manager, this role is responsible for supporting our Management in ensuring we manage, audit and review transport and vehicle collection operations as efficiently, effectively and compliantly as possible. To support in ensuring client SLAs are met and/or exceeded and oversee all aspects of the companies Operator Licence within your region.
**Transport Team Leader overall Responsibilities.**
- Support the Regional Transport Manager with responsibilities associated with the Company’s Operator’s Licence.
- Support the resourcing of driver’s time and attendance ensuring cover in your operational areas and working closely with the Transport Planning Team and ensure compliant with Working Time Directive.
- Ensure vehicles inspection schedules are adhered to and any change of vehicle is communicated to the planning team, driver walk round checks are carried out daily, recording any infringements and signing off all repairs in line with DVSA and company policy.
- Produce Tacho reports from company software, ensuring drivers sign and understand all infringements.
- Use tacho software/tracking software to ensure drivers adhere to all speed limits.
- Plan and arrange all required timely LOLA inspections arranging any required repairs.
- Ensure all non-operator licenced vehicles are operated within the law, including regular inspections, driver walk round checks and all relevant documents are added to the relevant IT system/software.
- Support with first level line management in leading the team.
- Support regular driver meetings and other 2-way methods to communicate relevant policies & procedures, business or operational change, check on welfare and provide any updates in legislation
- Investigate all accidents or incidents, completing relevant documentation and submitting this to the relevant parties in line with policies and procedures.
- Ensure drivers are adequately trained to carry out the role required, providing and arranging training where required, ensure driver CPC’s are up to date.
- All additional vehicle consumables are monitored are utilised efficiently - Fuel, AdBlue, Tyres, spill kits, straps and chains etc. and a stock is held at your main office for distribution to smaller yards.
- Support with liaison with all colleagues and customers for daily operational activities, providing support to other departments as necessary, handle any complaints and ensure support plans are in place to maintain long-term customer relationships.
**Leadership & Development of Direct Reports (Vehicle Collection Drivers)**
- Recruit effectively in partnership with HR and induct/onboard accordingly.
- Manage people resource levels to meet business needs.
- Manage team member’s T & A (Time & Attendance) on relevant software in line with payroll cut offs.
- Coach, feedback & continuously develop self and team members ensuring they have the skills, knowledge & tools to perform.
**IT & Organisational skills**
- Excellent people & communication skills.
- Transport compliance knowledge and Managers CPC would be advantageous but not essential as training will be provided to support you in gaining your Transport Managers CPC.
**Personal qualities**
- To be able to work independently and as a part of the team.
- Proactive diligent mindset to compliant operations.
**Hours**
- Monday - Friday 08.30am - 5pm
