Medical Education Practice Education Facilitator

The Practice Education Facilitator (PEF) role in Medical Education or MPEF is a fairly new role within Liverpool University Hospitals. Introduced in 2018, the role was developed to support student doctors, trainee doctors and Physicians Associates whilst on placement, providing an outreach function for trainees within the trust or those rotating externally to other trusts and specialities.
The successful post holder will join a team of two existing MPEFs to support the services across LUHFT with bases at both Royal Liverpool Hospital and Aintree Hospital.
The role will work with all levels of Postgraduate medics, Undergraduate medics and Physicians associates to;
Assess the quality of of practice learning environments through outreach and data analyse, auditing areas of the Trust and providing support and action plan improvements to areas needing improvement
Providing pastoral care and support to learners as identified, and being a point of contact with stakeholders to link in over such discussions.
Supporting and facilitating the development of clinical practice supervisors/assessors and staff, providing supervision and support structures in order to build education in practice capability, consistency and efficiency.
Leading on the structuring and coordination of interprofessional
learning activity across a service area(s).
Developing, co-coordinating, evaluating and implementing education programmes with Higher Education/relevant training
provider partners.
Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust was created on 1 October 2019 following the merger of two adult acute Trusts, Aintree University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and the Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospitals NHS Trust.
The merger provides an opportunity to reconfigure services in a way that provides the best healthcare services to the city and improves the quality of care and health outcomes that patients experience.
The Trust runs Aintree University Hospital, Broadgreen Hospital, Liverpool University Dental Hospital and the Royal Liverpool University Hospital.
It serves a core population of around 630,000 people across Merseyside as well as providing a range of highly specialist services to a catchment area of more than two million people in the North West region and beyond.
