We are currently recruiting on behalf of a local police force for a team of Police Staff Investigators to work on full-time, long-term contracts based in the Stockton area.
**Job Purpose**:
To assist with all investigations as directed by line management;
Interview witnesses in line with achieving best evidence;
**Main responsibilities**:
- Interview individuals under investigation in accordance with the relevant legislation and the Practical Guide to investigative interviewing.
- Interview victims and witnesses in accordance with the law and with reference to the Victim’s Charter and the Practical Guide to Investigative Interviewing.
- Be able to identify and interview vulnerable and/or intimidated witnesses, meeting their individual needs and supporting them to provide best evidence.
- Ensure that the necessary care for victims and witnesses is provided, in an ethical and empathic manner and in accordance with the legislation, policies, and procedures.
- Participate in police and agency led operations, working within appropriate authority limits and carrying out tasks necessary for the successful implementation of the operation whilst managing risks to the operation and acting in accordance with legislation and procedure.
- Complete prosecution procedures in accordance with codes of practice and relevant legislation.
- Attend Court and give evidence in accordance with legislation.
- Drive a police vehicle safely with consideration for others in accordance with Force policy and in line with the system of car control.
- Build and maintain community relations by providing a service that is responsive to the needs of all communities and by ensuring that those affected by crime receive a fair and non-discriminatory service.
- Provide and promote a high standard of service to internal and external contacts in a professional manner in accordance with Force policy and legislative requirements.
**Essential knowledge and Experience**:
- Accredited PIP2 level investigator
- Completed ICIDP course or recognised equivalent
- Experience of working on complex cases
- Ability to present materials both verbally and in writing demonstrating and adapting the style used to the target audience
- Excellent investigative skills
