An opportunity has arisen for **Senior Manufacturing Engineer** to join our Manufacturing team in a rapidly expanding and exciting work environment. The Senior Manufacturing Engineer is part of the Manufacturing Engineering team, responsible for ensuring efficient and effective translation of prototype and production intent products from design into manufacture.

**Job role**:

- Support early-stage engineering reviews with ‘design for manufacture’ experience
- Support engineering design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (DFMEA) identifying opportunities to remove potential failure modes through error proofing features in the design.
- Lead ‘Virtual Build’ workshops with design, quality, and production, championing the design for manufacture and assembly philosophy.
- Influence engineers and programme leads to implement cost reduction/quality improvement design features.
- Document and manage closure of design for manufacture issues ahead of engineering release. Forecast assembly times and tooling investments.
- Review engineering released Bills of Material (EBOMS) and produce Manufacturing BOMS (MBOMS) fit for Production Planning and Production purposes.
- Design effective and efficient manufacturing processes, considering lead time, labour cost and product volume/maturity considerations, documenting these in a Bill of Process (BOP).
- Support early-stage prototype production with design, quality, and production, championing the design for manufacture and assembly philosophy. Lead later stage prototype builds, ensuring ‘production intent’ is followed for materials and processes as far as possible.
- In conjunction with the Quality and Health and Safety and Environment functions conduct process failure mode and effect analysis (PFMEA) and risk assessments (RA) for processes.
- Ensure all identified controls from DFMEA/PFMEA and RA activities are incorporated into the process.
- Specify and source appropriate tooling, equipment and other hardware/software needed in line with programme cost/quality/lead time requirements.
- Develop production workstation, cell and production line layouts that allow efficient implementation of the process, minimising waste and non-value add activity; and facilitating safe production operations.
- Support production planning through the provision of clear resources, routings, and timings to enable optimisation of resource utilisation and effective production planning.
- Author work instructions for processes and key equipment for operations
- Lead Late-stage prototypes and very low production builds in production, capturing and leading to resolution any design, manufacturing process or equipment issues in a timely fashion.
- Support Production Engineers with the commissioning and training in new equipment/processes
- Ensure on time delivery of clear progress updates and deliverables to management functions.
- Where necessary support Production Engineering with production ramp up activities.
- Lead continuous improvement activities and demonstrate clear value add to production operations.
- Design/develop/implement new/improved production processes or technologies that reduce costs, improve quality, or otherwise add value to WAE’s manufacturing operations.
- Contribute to developing best manufacturing practices at WAE that extend a competitive advantage.
- Contribute to the training development of Manufacturing and Production Engineers within the team.
- Where/when necessary, oversee the work of Manufacturing or Production Engineers on a ‘project’ basis.
- Where/when necessary, engage with and manage critical relationships with external stakeholders required to ensure successful delivery of programme outcomes.
- Where/when necessary, work independently on business-critical programmes.
- Consistently promote high standards through personal example and roll out through the team.
- Report on achievement of targets and identify any actions required.
- Ensure that the function operates in accordance with any health, safety and environmental policies and procedures to ensure the safety and wellbeing of staff and visitors.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Work collaboratively, negotiate and engage with key stakeholders to facilitate delivery and compliance with the manufacturing strategy.
- Attend various meetings and action/communicate instructions.
- Produce written reports and make presentations.
- Undertake continuous training and development.
- Perform root cause analysis and resolve problems.
- Ensure KPIs are met by working to the plan, including management and reporting.

**You’ll have**:

- HNC/HND/degree in manufacturing, Engineering or a related discipline or equivalent experience
- Chartership, Incorporation or Engineering Technician with a relevant professional institution would be beneficial.
- Extensive experience working in both prototype and low-mid volume production environments in the majority of the capacities described in ‘Job Responsibilities’
- Experience using Siemens Teamcenter, MPP, NX and NoMuda Visual Factory software would be useful.
- Experience working with High Voltage products is desirable.
- A good understanding of TS16949, AS9100, ISO14001 and ISO9001 to comply with company processes is essential.
- A team player with the ability to work on own initiative, and able to influence others by demonstrating a positive “can do” attitude.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills along with the ability to work at pace in a multi-project environment.
