Young People’s Supported Accommodation (YPSA) is part of the county-wide pathways for young people in need of safe accommodation and specialist support.

We offer a highly aspirational service that defines the young adults it works with by their resilience, determination and potential, not the difficulties they have overcome. It is a system-change model commissioned by Oxfordshire County Council and sees Oxfordshire Youth supporting 130 young people aged 18-24 in high-quality two, three and four-bedroom homes provided by our project partner Response. This vital service offers young people - many of whom are care leavers or unaccompanied asylum seekers - trauma-informed youth work, delivered in physiologically informed environments in which they can flourish.

Our ambition is for vulnerable young people, or young people at risk of homelessness to engage with a life-changing offer of activities and youth work support. Our youth workers offer consistent advice that allows them to grow in confidence and skill, in preparation for a move into independent living. YPSA residents are also equipped with techniques and psychological tools to help them manage their mental health, develop financial empowerment and learn how to mend, nurture and manage healthy relationships with the people that matter to them.

The impact of inequalities in Oxfordshire on young people’s life chances is unjust. We know early intervention and prevention powers positive change. Here’s how our **Youth Support Workers** making it happen

**Youth Support Workers** seek out opportunities that inspire young people to step outside their comfort zone, helping them to develop new behaviours and skills that enable them to move into independent living. A youth work and trauma-informed approach is adopted by **Youth Support Workers** which means:

- Listening and being led by, the needs, ambitions, and assets of the young person
- Being an advocate for and champion of young people’s ability to acquire the skills needed to transition into a happy, positive, and healthy adulthood
- Being reliable, consistent, and aspirational role model. Coaches exercise clear and professional boundaries which creates safety, respect and trust and is paramount to success.

All **Youth Support Workers** receive high-quality training to ensure they feel confident and motivated to help build skills in emotional literacy, emotional regulation, de-escalating conflict, mental health first aid, safeguarding, physical wellbeing, financial empowerment, boundaries, creativity, and group skills.
