**What you’ll be doing**

BWB Consulting has an exciting opportunity for a Structural Engineer to join our Building and Built Environment Structures team in Nottingham.

Working as part of an ambitious, growing team you will be expected to provide hands on structural design for a wide variety of exciting projects across all sectors and ranging from mixed-use high-rise developments to huge distribution warehouses.
- You will be providing technical support activities on more than one project, as determined by the Team Leader and/or other senior members of the team.
- An Engineer is required to work with limited support and supervision. It is expected that the Engineer will take greater responsibility for their own development and learning, as well as support the development of more junior team members with the supervisingof Graduate Engineers and apprentices.
- The role is required to work in close co-operation with others in BWB.
- An Engineer will be required to comply with Company procedures and with health and safety and environmental regulations.
- When liaising with internal/external clients and third parties an Engineer is expected to adopt a professional approach.

**What you’ll bring**
- Technically strong and able to interact and communicate effectively with internal and external design teams and our clients.
- We value practical solutions so either a degree in Civil Engineering, specialising in Structures, or equivalent qualifications/experience.
- Able to produce structural calculations and designs on a range of projects across a multitude of sectors and materials.
- Possess a broad range of engineering skills and be able to demonstrate a good understanding of current codes of practice working in all the main construction materials.
- Comfortable in undertaking hand calculations and using spreadsheets as standard but also able to demonstrate the ability to use the latest 3D modelling design software packages in both concrete and steelwork. BWB predominantly use Tekla Structural Designer,TEDDS and RAM. Knowledge of Tekla would be preferable, although not essential as training would be provided.
- Good verbal and written communication skills are required as is the ability to produce clear, practical and economic design sketches that can be passed to structural technicians.
