Cyber Security Operations Team Lead

As the Cyber Security Operations team lead you will be responsible for managing and leading a team of security operations specialists, and for managing and delivering a variety of change initiatives, projects, and programs of work, as well as dealing with incidents swiftly and effectively. You will work collaboratively across the business and with third party suppliers ensuring the security operations team supports the Organisations Strategy.

Your excellent communication skills will be necessary to influence customers, suppliers, and partners, as well as form a deep understanding of wider customer and organisational needs. You will participate in both internal and external activities in line with your specialism to keep your skills up to date. With your ability to rationalise complex technical information, you will transform it into understandable language for others to work with.
As part of the Cyber Security Operations team, you will actively review and develop processes to ensure the security of NHS BSA infrastructure and information systems. You will work with NHS BSA business areas to understand and shape their security requirements, ensuring that customer data and other assets are secured while enabling open and modern secure digital services.
You will be based in Newcastle, working under general direction and within a clear framework of accountability. You will exercise substantial personal responsibility and autonomy to plan your own workloads to meet objectives and delivery timeframes.

**In this role, you are accountable for**:
1. As the Security operations team lead you will support the Cyber Security Operations Manager/Head of Cyber Security & infrastructure Services ensuring NHSBSA systems security is managed and appropriate access control and monitoring on all systems is maintained.
2. To work with NHSBSA staff and Third Parties to ensure that security standards, governance and processes are in place for producing and maintaining up to date, comprehensive, comprehensible documentation which will include IT service security “blueprints” for all systems and services.
3. Serves as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) and acknowledged point of contact to provide guidance on inquiries related to their area of responsibility, originating from both internal and external sources. Establishes the Cyber Security Operations team as the primary resource for advice on such matters and advises on standards and tools within their area of expertise.
4. Efficiently managing the workload of the security operations team members ensuring timely completion of assigned tasks to a superior standard. Continuously striving to improve both personal and business areas by coordinating and delivering work across various strands, including continuous improvement, project-related work, and operational tasks, while also promptly escalating issues as necessary.
5. Enabling the performance of others, including objectives setting fully aligned to departmental and organisational objectives and goals, and the development and motivation of staff to achieve them.
6. Conducting meaningful appraisals and 1-1s, identifying and meeting development needs, implementing, monitoring, evaluating and reporting on the impact and success of implemented training plans
7. Train, mentor, and coach other team members, and apprentices to enable the on-going personal development and growth of skills within the team.
8. Maintain detailed technical knowledge of IT Security products, systems, policies, and procedures used within the NHSBSA.
