Heathrow, United Kingdom British Airways Full time

Health, Safety & Environmental Advisor

At British Airways, we take huge pride in our past - but we’re looking to the future as an airline that loves embracing the best of modern Britain. Our country’s creativity, diversity, style, wit and warmth are the same special qualities that make us who we are.

If you’re made of the same qualities as us, you could soon be part of the next chapter of our story. Together as one team, we’re connecting Britain with the world and the world to Britain like no one else.

We are looking for an experienced Health, Safety and Environment Advisor to provide knowledge and guidance to our 3000 strong Engineering function within British Airways. Our Engineering function looks after the maintenance of our fleet of aircraft working in our hangar, workshops and ramp/terminal environments. The diverse nature of our Engineering operations means you would deal with a wide range of HS&E hazards and compliance requirements

The Role

You will work alongside some of the finest professionals in the industry. You’ll be responsible for ensuring the health and safety of our Engineers working on our fleet of aircraft and ensuring that we operate in the most sustainable way possible. Put simply, you’ll help ensure the safety of our Engineers, who in turn keep millions of passengers safe in the air.

You’ll be responsible for implementing the company health, safety & environmental management system through proactive engagement with all stakeholders. You’ll be driven to maintain full compliance by conducting risk assessments, developing safe systems of work, carrying out internal audits and investigations, publishing EHS reports and validating improvement actions.

Your experience will include dealing with regulatory agencies, like the HSE, Environment Agency and the Civil Aviation Authority. Whilst experience in an engineering/aviation background is preferable, we are looking for an expert that can add value through maintaining and improving our policies, systems and ways of working, principally at LHR and LGW but also includes other UK and worldwide sites.

**What we are looking for**:
This is a role that will call upon your impressive leadership, collaboration, negotiation and influencing skills. You’ll bring to the role impressive credentials including investigation experience, regulatory audit experience and complex risk assessment.

You will bring your expertise in health, safety and environmental standards as well as a strong eye for business and be willing to gain a detailed understanding of BA’s processes, procedures and regulatory requirements. Gaining further skills and qualifications required for the role.

With a detailed knowledge of legislation, you will be responsible for supporting the implementation of health, safety and environmental compliance and policy across the Engineering directorate. Working collaboratively across internal departments and with external stakeholders to execute best practice health, safety management, you will also drive environmental compliance policy and supporting owning departments in the delivery thereof.

It is essential you have Qualifications at Level 3 for Health & Safety with Environmental accreditations being an advantage.

Your impact on British Airways will be rewarded with a competitive rewards package plus the opportunity to develop and progress your career in many directions.

At British Airways we all have a part to play in creating an inclusive place to work. Diverse representation among our people is really important to us and we recognise that all our colleagues are uniquely different and bring their own originality, creativity and identity to work.

Inclusion and diversity is a key driver of innovation and we’re committed to creating a culture where everyone feels that they can be themselves. We’re looking for people from all backgrounds and cultures to join us and be a part of our journey to become a Better BA as we continue to connect Britain with the world and the world with Britain.
