**Position: Design Lead**

**Reporting to: Operations Manager**

**Business: Glacier Machining Solutions Ltd.**

**Based: Glasgow**

**Main duties and responsibilities**:

- Manage manufacturing activity related to Machining Solutions products
- Manage manufacturing requirements for activity related to projects/bespoke solutions
- Responsible for product design and maintaining Technical Documentation.
- Responsible to produce manufacturing drawings.
- Responsible for the improvement of design and manufacture systems/methods.
- Responsible for identification and growth of junior designers, and/or technical staff.
- Support the achievement of business KPIs, including targets relating to; P+ reporting accuracy, stock control (WIP), finance, labour costs and other measures, as agreed.
- Support the timely production of Month End reports in conjunction with GMS Operations and Sales Team.
- Support internal departments responsible for manufacture and purchasing.
- Work in a manner, which protects the health, safety and welfare of self and others.
- Actively work with colleagues to continuously improve the companies working practices.
- Adhere to all Company policies and procedures including quality, safety, environmental and HR.
- Maintain strict confidentiality on all matters relating to company business.
- Always look after company interests.
- The job role may include other reasonable duties/tasks from time to time.

**Required Skills & Experience**
- Competent user of Autodesk Inventor 3D CAD software.
- Sound educational background minimum HNC mechanical engineering preferred.
- Experience of using an ERP system preferred.
- Good working knowledge of ISO9001 requirements.
- Sound knowledge of improving efficiency and effectiveness of manpower.
- Good strong customer orientation with demonstrable client retention skills.
- Commercially astute with excellent negotiating skills and the ability to handle and overcome objections.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, communication, influencing and organisational skills.
- Team and goal oriented.
- Strong analytical skills coupled with practical, hands on problem solving approach.
- IT literate with specific experience using Microsoft Excel, Word & PowerPoint programs.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: From £40,000.00 per year
