Senior Automation Engineer

**Role Summary**

Equiniti is building a new private cloud capability that will be used primarily by software divisions across the group as a platform for the sale of their products and services (SaaS/PaaS), as well as other strategic systems. In addition to new businesswins, a range of public and private clients will be migrated from their existing hosted platforms onto this new platform.

This is an exciting opportunity as the platform is still early in its development and this is a real opportunity to shape it. We are looking for individuals who have a strong Infrastructure background and experience of working in a 'DevOps' environment witha strong focus on automation who can help us shape the future of this platform.

**Core Duties/Responsibilities**

Rresponsibilities within the team are split across two themes ('Supporting' and 'Developing'):
Developing
- Automating features towards refinement of public & private cloud configurations.
- Developing automation standards
- Evangelise new methodologies and assist 'Tenant Administrators' with developing 'Infrastructure as Code' in their environment and a 'DevOps' mentality.
- Understand and support software development teams across Equiniti, raising awareness of automated infrastructure deployment mechanisms and methodologies early in the development lifecycle.
- Container & Cloud deployment automation policies
- Experience building sophisticated and highly automated infrastructure.

Supporting
- Business units with technical pre-sales support.
- Participate in Audits & resolving Audit findings

**Skills, Knowledge & Experience**
- Experience with continuous integration and deployment
- Experience working with VMWare & Hyper-V
- Experience working with revision control source code repositories
- Experience of building platform independent pipelines to automate deployments
- Strong knowledge of public and private cloud
- Strong people skills, able to articulate complex technical points to different audiences
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Strong scripting/configuration management skills, i.e. Bash, Powershell, Python, Puppet, Chef etc
- Strong Infrastructure as Code skills i.e. Terraform, Ansible, ARM, etc
- Strong Windows / Linux based system engineering skills
- Ensure problems with the current platforms are identified and mitigation to maximise the availability and performance of our platforms
- Experience in mentoring and supporting colleagues
- Ensure effective levels of security is designed and implemented into all core IT technologies

Desirable:

- Understanding of Service-Orientated Architecture and Micro Services
- Experience working in a regulated and accredited environment, with awareness of; ISO 27001, ITIL, Prince2 and Government accredited environments
- Experience in any public cloud i.e. AWS & Azure
- Docker & Kubernetes experience
- Central monitoring and logging platforms i.e. New Relic, ELK, Splunk etc
- Technical design and architecture experience
- Experience working in agile teams
