This role is responsible for the strategic delivery of Knowledge and Information Management (KIM) services across all repositories for information created in any medium held by ONS and UKSA. This role is the Head of Profession (HoP) for KIM within ONS/UKSA and represents both at the Government KIM (GKIM) Leaders ‘network.
This role is the DRO for ONS/UKSA leading on compliance with the Public Records Act. The role holder ensures that ONS/UKSA operates compliantly within existing information-related legislation: The Public Records Act, UK GDPR, Data Protection Act 2018 and The Freedom of Information Act 2000.
The Head of KIM/DRO is responsible for assurance on KIM matters to board level stakeholders such as the Accounting Officer (the National Statistician/Permanent Secretary), the Second Permanent Secretary, deputy National Statisticians, Senior Civil Servants, and data governance role holders.
The role holder maintains external stakeholder relationships, such as peers across the GKIM profession, The National Archives, and commercial suppliers of information management repositories.
**Essential Criteria**:
- Significant experience of working and leading in the KIM Profession, practical experience of working in the public sector is desirable.
- Significant experience of records management processes and principles.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Significant experience in working with internal and external stakeholders across boundaries and hierarchical structures.
**Qualifications**
- Recognised KIM qualification, or professional registration from either the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals (CILIP), the Information and Records Management Society (IRMS), or the Archives and Records Association (ARA).
