This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic Charity and Housing Association. The Society of St James (SSJ) has been working in Hampshire for over 50 years, delivering high impact, person-centred, accommodation services to adults and young people experiencing homelessness, problematic substance use and mental health problems. If so, we have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and tenacious **Community** **Alcohol Recovery Worker** to join the dedicated team at the **SSJ Recovery Hub in Portsmouth**.
**The Impact You’ll Make**

You will be the crucial link, offering **assessment and immediate recovery work** during their hospital stay and supporting a seamless transition to ongoing support within the community.
You'll work hand-in-glove with the **Alcohol Specialist Nurse Service at QA**, but your impact will extend far beyond the hospital walls. Once clients are discharged, you will be predominantly **community-based**, conducting lone working to offer person-centred support through home visits or in other community settings.
**Who We’re Looking For**
We need someone who is **self-reflective, innovative, and deeply motivated** to help others make meaningful changes. You’ll have a profound **understanding of the impact of alcohol dependency** on individuals, families, and the wider community, along with knowledge of the resources available to help.
**Essential Qualities and Skills**:
- Proven experience working effectively with this client group or transferable skills from working with other disadvantaged individuals/groups.
- Exceptional ability to **build meaningful, trusting relationships** with service users.
- Strong background in **assessing people's needs and risks**.
- A flexible approach to work, including a willingness to work a **37-hour week** that will include **evening and some weekend work**.
- Highly developed skills in reflective thinking and keeping accurate records.
- A commitment to working in a **person-centred way** to support individuals to access interventions that are important _to them_.
**Staff Benefits**
We value and recognise our staff, offering some generous benefits, as well as the satisfaction of helping people at risk:
- A competitive annual leave entitlement of 25 days rising to 30 days, plus public holidays
- Flexible working options
