Our construction colleagues have significant responsibility for the ongoing maintenance of one of the region’s largest property portfolios. With work spanning responsive and planned repairs, cyclical maintenance and emergency out of hours repairs, fire and building safety, disabled adaptations, asset improvement, stores, purchasing and waste, call handling and customer support, this is a high-performing team operating on the front line with a truly vital role to play in ensuring safe living and working conditions for residents and employees of Gateshead.

**About the role.**

**What you'll get involved in**

Working within the Building Maintenance Section you’ll coordinate and monitor the delivery of all non-domestic & domestic operations and activities such as plant replacement, servicing, repairs and remedial works and externally funded schemes.

The role also includes having financial and budget responsibility for the Building Maintenance Mechanical department, providing budgets and estimates and technical advice to clients and other stakeholders. You will be part of a team having responsibility in all aspects of health and safety management to comply with current legislation, including CDM Regulations, promoting a culture of good health and safety.

**What you'll need to be successful**:
**Knowledge**
- Principles of construction and relevant legislation
- IT systems including Microsoft Office
- Project Management & Maintenance Programmes
- Understanding of Equality and Diversity legislation

**Experience**
- Statutory gas legislation and regulations.
- Current Gas Industry Unsafe Situations Procedure.
- Undertake duties in accordance with Health & Safety Regulations (CDM) including RIDDOR reporting, established safe systems of work and policies, practices and procedures.
- An understanding of the principles in cyclical and compliance areas with either relevant on-site managerial or technical work experience.
- Budget and financial planning including preparing timely and accurate reports on performance.
- Managing an in-house team and contractors on site. Organising and prioritising your own workload and dealing calmly with difficult decisions.

**Skills**
- Current or previously held Non-Domestic ACS accreditation in COCN1/CoDNCO1, CDGA1, CIGA1, CORT1, ICPN1, TPCP1 & TPCP1A.
- Domestic Hot Water Storage Systems (Unvented).
- Time served heating engineer to NVQ Level 3 or equivalent standard.
- Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) qualification.
- Current CSCS Card or willingness to work towards qualification.
- Willingness to undertake any additional corporate or trade training as required.
- Full driving license or access to mobility support.
