Resources Librarian - Bournemouth - £16.76 per hour - Temp
Our client is looking for a Resources Librarian to join them on a temporary basis. You will be responsible for the support, administration and development of a broad range of digital services, platforms, software, and tools. The ideal person will have excellentadministration skills and an understanding of the higher education sector.
Main responsibilities:
- Manage and maintain the library management system and other specialist library digital systems and ensure effective operation and continuing development of these systems
- Ensure all working materials are discoverable to students and staff to enhance learning, teaching and student experience
- Assist with the development of the library website to make sure it is accessible to all users and ensure all information is regularly updated
- Help co-ordinate projects relating to the digital services and the availability of library resources and services
- Lead on the development of projects aimed at
- Keep up to date on new and emerging technologies to ensure the digital services provided are in line with next generation e-resources
- Develop training materials in various formats to help efficient administration
- Collect and collate statistical information
- Run system changes when required and liaise with the suppliers and IT services to resolve any issues
- Ensure the needs of all students and staff are met by working closely with the Library staff and other academic departments
- Develop strong relations within colleagues through use of committees and working groups or as a source of advice and guidance
- Manage the library budget for own area of responsibility inline with the company procedures including financial regulations
- Keep up to date with health and safety around the premise and comply with the procedures on a daily basis
Skills & Experience required:
- Experience working within a high level administration role and administering library management systems
- Experience of working within higher education and awareness of the key challenges within the sector
- Degree level qualification or equivalent qualification or experience
- Able to supervise and manage staff effectively and able to resolve formal issues
- High level of organisation and able to prioritise work for critical deadlines
- Experience of API's and writing SQL queries
- Basic knowledge of TCP/IP Networking
- Ability to manage a small scale budget effectively
- Demonstrable knowledge of how to develop and support digital learning content and resources
The working hours are Monday to Thursday 8:30am to 5pm and Friday 8:30am to 4:30pm. This will be a temporary role for 4 months with possibility to extend up to 12 months.
