I have been retained by a market leading spirits business to find them a talented Global Communications Manager to join their Whisky Discovery Team, which exists to ensure their whisky and whisky making are celebrated by strategic external audiences, and thatwe build our corporate reputation as whisky makers at home and in key international markets. This Global role will be a first rate story-teller, leading the whisky discovery programmes and will develop effective communication programmes to drive discoveryand recommendation for our whisky and whisky making, with a focus on their four most recognisable, top 20 whisky brands. Key Consumer Markets include UK, USA and agreed targets in Europe alongside strategic industry and media audiences at a global and regionallevel.
**1. Develop Whisky Discovery Approach**
- Develop programmes to drive discovery for Single Malt brands within world of whisky
- Develop communication activity that articulates each brand's purpose and ensures their whiskies stand out
- Collaborate with Global Brand teams to translate commercial / consumer Key Job To Be Done to effective world of whisky communication programmes
- Provide structured direction to Markets to enable teams to ensure they are present / active in world of whisky
- Support Market and Brand through coaching, co-creation and structuring approach including measurement
- Collaborate with Brand to ensure effective Whisky Discovery guidance is issued to Markets within Brand Planning
- Collaborate with Head of, to refine the strategy and play an active role in relevant cross functional teams

**2. Represent their award-winning Single Malt externally**
- Play an active role bringing brands to life online, and build your presence as a Key Opinion Leader
- Achieve agreed metrics for engagement online / offline with key individuals in industry / media
- Support senior members of the Marketing and Whisky Making Teams to do the same
- Seek out thought-leadership on effective drinks-content
- Harness industry news, awards and data to fuel their news externally

**3. Partner Whisky Making to develop their role in communication and presence within the World of Whisky**
- Collaborate with Head of, to ensure the Whisky Making Team have a defined role within Whisky Discovery
- Collaborate to to harness content from whisky making 'in action' and develop the whisky archive
- Manage Whisky Maker's appearances at industry events and in media and social media presence
- Seek out insight garnered from conversation in industry, provide input to key product story, as assigned.
- Support approach to ensure whisky makers are active in industry
- Develop content to amplify their whisky and whisky making news online including content capture at each distillery

**4. Project Manager key initiatives within the Whisky Discovery Agenda**
- Project Manager on key whisky discovery initiatives for key brand /in key markets, as assigned
- Develop activity to ensure they capitalise on key moments in the whisky calendar, and in the brand calendar
- Structure the opportunity with Key Opinion Leaders to harness insight, incorporate to key internal initiatives, and the business are valued partners to key people in industry media
- Own the external communication calendar, collaborating with Corporate Brand and UK Brand Teams to ensure they effectively harness opportunity to drive reach year-round
- Collaborate with Brand Home and Brand Team to develop the programme for Whisky Festivals / Local Events and harness the reach potential in Industry and World of Whisky

**5. Manage World of Whisky Media Engagement Programme**
- Own the Press Office Function, with appointed Press Agency, collaborating with Brand and Key Markets
- Support World of Whisky Press Agency Function in key markets (currently USA and China)
- Collaborate with Head of and Experience Team to develop Engagement Programme to ensure their Single Malt is endorsed and featured in the world of whisky, with a clear role by brand, and Brand Team appropriately consulted
- Ensure solutions are proactively communicated and enable teams to participate / amplify the programme.
- Deliver programme to engage strategic industry, media and key opinion leaders in order to secure feature
- Structure approach to measurement and evaluation to ensure ongoing refinement of the programme

**6. Support the Head of Comms to structure the discovery role for each pillar in whisky making**
- Own the content calendar for their network of spokespeople - Communication, Whisky Making, Whisky Discovery, Production and Whisky Experience - to ensure they harness the reach potential of this channel, and their whisky making community bring their whiskymaking to life online
- Collaborate to ensure each Distillery, Distillery Manager and Ambassador has a defined role within their discovery approach, and agreed rhythm of feature in external communication
- Manage the content creation programme to build a library of hygiene content for each pillar in whisky making, working closely with Brand Comms and Corporate Brand
- Consult Brand led content creation at each distillery

**Qualifications & Experience**
- Communication (within a craft-consumer category E.g. Beer, Wine Whisky)
- A first rate storyteller and communicator, including presenting alcohol product to variety of audiences
- Digital Native (Media Engagement, Content, Demand Generation, Demand Conversion)
- Spokesperson representing the business
- Practical experience managing projects. Experience in at least one key market beyond the UK

**Knowledge**
- Production Process for Single Malt Whisky (or comparable premium alcohol product)
- Communication Projects, with experience beyond the UK preferred
- Digital Marketing
- Alcohol Category (including Advertising Legislation)
- Media Relations Environment
