**Job summary**:
Defence Digital Commercial (DDCmrcl) is the core team responsible for delivering outstanding value for Defence across its exploitation of digital and information technologies. We are responsible for a large portfolio of complex contracts worth £2bn a year. We operate across five category teams:
**Networks** The Networks Category sources and manages contracts which provide fixed data and voice capabilities, together with mobile and radio services managed by Defence Digital for services across Defence.
**IT Hardware & Service** The Hardware & Services category procures the supply and management of the MOD’s enterprise IT in both fixed (UK and overseas) and deployed environments.
**Military Technology** The Military Technology Category procures a diverse range of Digital Defence equipment such as Military Satellites, Battlefield and Tactical Communication and Information Systems.
**Software & Hosting** The Software and Hosting category team sources and manages direct software purchases (e.g. Vmware and Microsoft Enterprise Agreement) as well as software procured under a service contract through a service integrator/prime/reseller.
**Professional Services** Procures all external resource requirements across Defence Digital. From Strategy Consultancy to Individual contractors including staff augmentation and all delivery support.

IT Hardware and Services
Military Technology
As a commercial officer you will be involved in all aspects of the commercial life-cycle, supporting commercial teams in tasks including market research, sourcing digital services by negotiating contracts, through to managing the contract and the relationship between MOD and the Supplier.
- Responsibilities will include:
- Providing support to Defence Digital project delivery teams to influence and inform the sourcing of new goods and services
- Assist in the selection of appropriate suppliers using relevant evaluation criteria and responsible for ensuring value for money
- Working within a team to negotiate favourable terms for pricing and contract terms that deliver immediate and ongoing financial and non-financial benefits
- Ongoing proactive management of key supplier relationships
- Effective management of full life cycle of the contracts including managing changes and ensuring ongoing value and service quality standards are delivered
- Commercial risk identification.
- Supporting development of sourcing strategies in cooperation with internal stakeholders
- Hold formal delegated powers of up to £0.25M
- Providing advice on commercial policies and processes to other teams
- Potential line management responsibilities based on skill set and business requirement
- Providing support and leadership to junior team members
