**This is a Volunteer Position**
**Role Title**: Volunteer Delivery Team Member
**Purpose of Position**: Food Train is an award-winning charity providing services to older people who are no longer able to manage independently, through age, ill health, frailty or disability. Delivery team members collect shopping orders from our partner supermarket and deliver out to our Food Train Members homes. Driving and non-driving positions are available.
**We cannot offer wages but do provide reasonable travel expenses for volunteers.**
**The Role**:
- Delivery assistant **OR** van driver & delivery assistant
- Collect shopping orders from shops
- Stack van to ensure shopping boxes are secure
- Deliver and unpack shopping orders for customers within customers homes and complete relevant paperwork and finance
- As a driver, to record van mileage/range and undertake basic vehicle checks
- To report any matters of concern to Food Train staff
- To inform Food Train Staff of any accidents, incidents or complaints
- To maintain confidentiality & treat members with dignity and respect
- Represent Food Train in a professional manner to customers and the wider community
**Skills and experience**:
- There are no formal educational requirements for this role however knowledge of the needs of older people acquired through life and family experiences, training received or practice based experience is desirable.
- Age 16+ due to insurance purposes
- Driving Licence - essential for those wishing to be delivery driver
- Friendly, sociable and patient with a caring manner.
- Good level of fitness, motivated, reliable, trustworthy and enthusiastic individual who can be responsive and flexible on delivering positive outcomes and experiences for the older people.
- Good verbal communication skills are required as well as being a people person with a sense of humour who can adapt to any situation and changing people behaviour.
**Time Commitment**:
- 5 hrs - 9am to 2pm approximately
- Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday
- On-going role
