**Job description Nursery practitioner Domi Domingo Nursery**

**Purpose of post - To be a key part of the Nursery team, taking responsibility as a keyperson, ensuring that all children in the setting are happy, settled, and develop and grow to the best of their ability.**

Domi Domingo is a multi site Nursery business led by an experienced area manager and nursery managers. We work hard to retain our ‘family feel’ and have established a good, stable staff team. OFSTED, (2024) have recognised how well we support our staff in our latest report, _‘There are robust systems to help staff reflect on and develop their practice through sharply focused professional development training and the sharing of new skills and ideas.’_

**We want you to**:

- Plan and operate a programme of activities using the intents of the setting which are suitable to the age range of children in your area in conjunction with other staff;
- To keep a proper record of achievement on your key children, and any other children in your room, using the triangle sheets.
- Ensure that observations and work on key children and focus children are completed in a timely manner, and the planning sheet is kept up to date.
- Work with parents/carers of all children, including special needs children to give full integration in the Setting and additional support where necessary
- To develop a good working relationship with all parents but in particular those of your key children.
- To identify, monitor and evidence children’s next steps, and act on these throughout activities, planned work and play.
- To take part in home visits where necessary.
- To ensure that all initial paperwork is completed when a new child starts, and take the lead in the settling in process, developing an effective relationship with parents/carers and the child.
- To ensure that any other additional paperwork is completed in a timely manner.
- To be aware of, follow and support any dietary or medical requirements.
- Support all staff and engage in a good staff team;
- Liaise with and support parents/carers and other family members;
- To be involved in out of working hours activities, e.g. training, monthly staff meetings, fundraising events;
- To be flexible within working practices of the Setting. Be prepared to help where needed, including to undertake certain domestic jobs within the Setting, e.g. preparation of snack meals, cleansing of equipment etc.;
- Work alongside the manager and staff team to ensure that the philosophy behind Nursery is fulfilled;
- Recording accidents, pre existing and incidents on the appropriate forms, making sure that forms are completed correctly. Ensure the manager has signed the form and check that parent has signed before the child leaves the setting.
- Look upon the Setting as a “whole” where your help be most utilised, be constantly aware of the needs of children;
- Ensure child is collected by someone known to Setting;
- To respect the confidentiality of information received;
- To develop your role within the team especially with regard as a key worker and leading in an area of provision(s).
- To take an active part in safeguarding supervisions and performance management meetings, as well as observations acting on any targets produced.
- To undertake any training asked in a timely manner and seek additional training if deemed necessary.
- To source your own training.
- To support the settings vision and values.
- **Specific Child Care Tasks**:

- The preparation and completion of activities to suit the child's stage of development;
- To ensure that mealtimes are a time of pleasant social sharing;
- Washing and changing children as required;
- Providing comfort and warmth to an ill child;
- To ensure the Setting remains of a high quality environment to meet the needs of individual children from differing cultures and religious backgrounds, and stages of development;
- To be aware of the high profile of the Setting and to uphold its standards at all times.
- To actively promote and support the safeguarding of children and young people in the workplace, ensuring Setting policies and procedures are observed at all times.
- To actively promote our setting in the local community and act as an ‘ambassador’ when wearing work clothing.
- To ensure that children’s communication sheets are completed on a daily basis and fed back to parents/carers on collection.
- To keep up to date with new legislation and policies and follow and adhere to these.
- To follow Nursery policies and procedures.

**Skills, aptitude, knowledge and experience**
- Previous experience of caring for, or working with children aged 0-5 in a voluntary or paid capacity
- An understanding of Development Matters
