A new post has been created in the Clinical Coding Department at Liverpool Women's Hospital. The successful applicant will benefit from working in a supportive, highly skilled team with the freedom and trust to work flexibly to deliver the needs of the department.

The post holder will be expected to work from the hospital site for an introductory period, following which an empowered attendance policy is in place enabling staff who maintain appropriate audit scores and productivity levels to work remotely as desired. Staff working remotely must be available to attend on-site meetings, events, and training as required.

The team operates a flexible working policy with core hours between 10:00-12:00 and 14:00-15:00, Monday -Friday.

They will assist the Clinical Coding Manager in managing the day-to-day workload of the team including the supervision and motivation of staff, and act as a mentor to less experienced clinical coding officers.

A key component of the post will be to deal with enquiries regarding the clinical coding process including liaising with senior clinical staff and attending multidisciplinary meetings.

2. Inputting clinical coded data onto the Patient Administration System (PAS) for inpatient, day case and outpatient attendances within the timescales agreed between the Trust and user organisations.
3. To assist the Clinical Coding Manager in actively monitoring the completeness and timeliness of coding reporting within the strict monthly deadlines, raising any problems, including any backlogs, and their causes to the relevant divisional manager and any senior clinicians concerned.
4. To attend internal and external meetings, events, and training as and when required and participate in and organise clinical coding workshops, awareness sessions and roadshows for all levels of staff.
5. Attend multidisciplinary meetings to promote a thorough knowledge and understanding of clinical coding and its rules and conventions and raise awareness of the importance of complete, accurate and timely data to all levels of staff within the Trust.
6. To lead the development, implementation, promotion and maintenance of local policy and guidance agreements that relate to clinical coding issues within the divisions. Ensure that all local staff adhere to policy agreements and that they are reviewed regularly and stored in a logical fashion.
7. To assist in the induction, training and mentorship of all staff involved in clinical coding.
8. To be aware of the reporting requirements of the divisions and provide regular feedback on coding, where it affects these areas, as well as specialist advice on the interpretation of diagnosis and procedures.
9. To facilitate the data recall process by being the point of contact for providing details of codes used for specific diagnostic conditions and operative procedures for clinicians, service managers and information staff.
10. To communicate effectively with non-clinical staff, clinicians, nurses, midwives, and managers both internal and external to the trust on coding issues. Attend multidisciplinary meetings, which require clinical coding input, providing regular feedback on coding issues to divisional management and ward staff.
11. To participate in regular training to ensure that coding/leadership skills are continually being broadened and updated, by attending specialty workshops and in-house training as outlined in a personal development plan. Be responsible for maintaining their own portfolio of evidence.
12. To assist the Trust in maintaining a high data quality standard by raising queries regarding anomalies found in the recording of data held on the PAS with the appropriate staff. Any unresolved problems should be discussed with the Clinical Coding Manage
