**Who we are**

Canterbury Environment Company is a new local authority trading company wholly owned by Canterbury City Council to deliver Waste Collection and Street Cleansing services within the Canterbury district.

The district is a great place to work. Nestled in the Garden of England in east Kent, it covers the bustling city of Canterbury with its World Heritage Sites and three universities, the popular coastal towns of Herne Bay and Whitstable as well as 24 beautiful villages.

Waste Collection and Street Cleansing is a high-profile, front-facing service that Canterbury City Council commissions and is a universal service, benefiting everyone within the district.

The establishment of Canterbury Environment Company marks a new chapter for the city council, with the service being provided by an outsourced, privately-owned, company for over the past two decades.

One of the key drivers for establishing the Canterbury Environment Company is that it will enable the council to have greater control over the day-to-day delivery of the service as well as the flexibility to respond and adapt to environmental, technological and legislative changes.

**Role Background**

Maintenance and repair of waste collection, street cleansing and ancillary service vehicles and equipment, in line with current legislation, health, and safety standards and DVSA standards.

Situated in a new purpose-built workshop you would be working an early and late shift, in line with operational hours and an occasional Saturday following a bank holiday. This is a great opportunity to join a small, friendly, local team in a modern environment.
