Apprentices will be working in all aspects of Carpentry. Some examples are:

- Carry out first fixing work including install timber frames and linings, coverings, flat roof decking, install straight flights of stairs and erect timber stud partitions. Install handrails and spindles to straight flights of stairs.
- Correctly interpret information from drawings and specifications in various types and formats. eg electronic devices, Computer Aided Design (CAD).
- Erect trussed rafter roofs, construct gables, verge and eaves.
- Install floor joists and coverings.
- Carry out timber stud partition work.
- Although this is a Carpentry apprentice role, there may at times be some other aspects of construction involved in, which they shall be supervised and trained. When the apprentices are working, they will be supervised by a fully qualified member of staff and will be shown all the correct procedures including health and safety in the workplace. Along with ensuring that their work area is clean and safe, and that all the tools are cleaned and put away correctly at the end of each day.

**What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?**

You will be fully qualified Carpenter and become a self-employed Carpenter with the employer.

**Person Specification**

You will require your own transport for this apprenticeship.

**Working Week**

Apprentices will be expected to work a maximum of 40 hours a week, Monday to Friday with exception for college. Please note, the wage is worked out on 40 hours per week. This may vary depending on the employer.

- 10 hour shift
- 8 hour shift
