REPORTING TO: Senior Supervisor or Line /Contract Manager

LOCATION: Edgeware Depot

HOURS: 40 hours per week

PAY RATE: £11.74 PER HOUR

SHIFT PATTERN: 5 Days out of 7

ROLE OVERVIEW AND PURPOSE

Context:
Within the UK, ABM provides cleaning and other facilities services to customers through a number of semiautonomous Operating Companies, each focussed on particular market segments. For the purposes of high level management and strategic support, Operating Companies are grouped on the basis of their principal base covering the Private and Public sectors. ABM Transport is within the Public Sector and is supported by the sector’s head office providing support and direction on policy and best practice in the areas of finance, human resources and marketing.

Prime Role:
The overall objective of the Team Leader/Supervisor will be to provide support for the Shift/Site/Contract
Manager in all aspects of the cleaning and deputizing when necessary. Team Leaders/Supervisors is responsible to the Shift/Site/Contract Manager for achieving profitability and targets and to ensure that all business processes are conducted in accordance with ABM corporate policies and in a way which protects and enhances the image and reputation of ABM.

Scope:
Provision of services, support and advice to all Transport employees and customers and to ensure quality standards of services are provided at all times within the remit that the company allocates.

Complexity of position:
1. There are times when the postholder’s role is pressurised, but good organisational skills and forward planning will help to avoid these incidents

2. The postholder will have a degree of independent action within limits of authority, defined by the
Shift/Site/Contract Manager

3. It is essential that the postholder knows when it is appropriate to seek advice from their Senior
Managers

4. The postholder must present a professional image at all times

5. The post holder must have the ability to get on well with all levels of people

6. It is essential that the postholder understands all functions required of him/her

7. The postholder is responsible of the welfare and safety of the staff

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

General:

- Ensure the image of the contract reflects the professional image of the Company.
- Provide support for Senior Supervisors or Managers.
- General administrative duties including completion of key records, stores control
- Responsible for the control of all techniques, paperwork, equipment, materials and resources to achieve the highest quality, most cost effective and technically appropriate results
- Responsible for maintaining stock levels, keeping all delivery or materials movement records safe, assuring all materials are signed out from stores
- Maintain equipment, stores and administration in good order

Ensure all equipment on site is in good working order, report any defects and make sure they are followed through
- Accountability for the day to day successful delivery of the service.
- To ensure that correct manning levels are met including short term and emergency requirements
- Report all absenteeism (including lateness) and general feedback to Senior Supervisor or Manager.

Please be aware that it is totally unacceptable for a supervisor /team leader to be absent or late unless authorised by senior manager
- Provide cover for operatives in the event of sickness, holidays or absences.
- To ensure problems are dealt with in a timely and professional manner.
- Complete periodic tasks as scheduled or requested by Senior Supervisor or Manager.
- Completion of all forms as requested by Management (please see Appendix A)
- Promptly deal with any queries or complaints, passing to Senior Supervisor or Manager if appropriate.
- Undertake duties/reports as requested by Business Managers
- Company personnel, client representatives, sub contractors and third parties:

- To create, maintain and enhance effective working relationships with staff working within their control, employers representatives, and company personnel as necessary, other staff within the

Trust/Company, the Client and individuals in the external environment.
- To ensure that staff are properly trained and monitored in all aspects of the job, including the use of systems, materials and new technology.
- Induction of all new and transferred staff in accordance with the Client and Company procedures.
- Delegate staff efficiently and effectively to maximise their skills in cleaning to agreed standards.
- Provide support and encouragement to all employees.
- Monitor and manage support service provided by sub-contractors.
- Ensure that relevant specification needs are understood and met by employees
- Allocation of work duties to staff, working on areas with or in the absence of staff.
- Ensure that all personnel have the appropriate and in date ID and security badges, entry and track safety passes.
